The new gym offers a spacious training environment with an expanded range of facilities, including its largest women-only training areas, an aerobics space, a larger spinning studio and a boxing ring. The amenities are designed to give members a variety of workout options.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Fitnesspoint Managing Director Ole Haugum said the new branch would maintain the same standards of service as the company’s existing facilities. He also encouraged people of all ages, including those in their 50s and beyond, to embrace regular physical exercise.

"Bring everybody, but most importantly, please don’t leave your grandparents behind. I am living proof that working out at an older age is useful,” he said.

The opening day also featured fitness challenges, with winners receiving three-month gym subscriptions. Among the activities was a spinning session led by instructor Michelle Nkurunziza, who used the session to raise awareness about breast cancer screening.

Clare Uwase, a regular Fitnesspoint client for the past year, welcomed the opening of the new branch, saying its location would make it easier for her to maintain her fitness routine.

Uwase said travelling from Kanombe to the gym’s previous locations had been challenging, particularly because of traffic congestion.

"Now that this new facility is nearby, I will be able to stick to my fitness routine,” she said.

The facility spans 820 square metres across multiple floors and can accommodate approximately 100 to 120 people at a time, giving members ample space to work out comfortably.

Branch Manager Timothy Maraka credited his team, including instructors and front-office staff, for their efforts in preparing the facility to welcome its first members. He said the branch would focus on creating a comfortable and welcoming environment for everyone.

"Everything here was put together with love, effort and experience, with attention to detail to ensure that people find what they need. Everyone has their own expectations, but I can assure you that this place will be a fitness church for everyone,” he said.

The Kanombe branch will operate from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Monday to Friday, while weekend opening hours will end at 9 p.m.
