A delegation of investors and business leaders from 16 Singaporean companies arrived in Rwanda for a two-week trade and investment mission aimed at exploring business opportunities and partnerships. The mission, running from October 5 to 15, brought together investors, tech leaders and business executives from the various sectors, including climate finance, digital technology, artificial intelligence, education technology, agricultural technology, healthcare, aviation, robotics, defence and public security, and investment management. ALSO READ: Rwanda, Singapore issue call for carbon market project proposals They are expected to meet with Rwandan government officials, regulators, financial institutions and members of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) to discuss potential investments, partnerships and opportunities for technology and knowledge transfer. The programme includes investment facilitation meetings, business-to-business engagements, roundtable discussions and visits to different sectors. According to the Rwanda's High Commission in Singapore, the engagements are also intended to assess opportunities for Singaporean companies to establish operations in Rwanda and use the country as a base for expansion into other African markets. ALSO READ: Kagame, Singapore’s Shanmugaratnam mull areas of cooperation in trade, investment, financial technology High Commissioner Innocent Muhizi said the mission reflects growing interest among Singaporean businesses and other international investors in Rwanda's economy. “This Trade and Investment Mission reflects the growing confidence of not only Singaporean businesses but also international investors in Rwanda's economic potential and development trajectory,” Muhizi said. He said the mission would provide an opportunity to identify investment opportunities aligned with Rwanda's development priorities while facilitating knowledge and technology transfer. “This mission provides a valuable platform to deepen partnerships, facilitate knowledge and technology transfer, and identify investment opportunities aligned with Rwanda's national development priorities,” he said. The mission is the first trade and investment mission of its scale organised since Rwanda and Singapore established diplomatic relations more than two decades ago. The High Commission said the engagements are expected to result in new investment projects, commercial partnerships and collaboration in innovation and technology.
