East African University Rwanda (EAUR) have signed outside hitter Patrick Ishimwe on a deal running until the end of 2027.

East African University Rwanda (EAUR) have signed outside hitter Patrick Ishimwe on a deal running until the end of 2027 as the club prepares for the new volleyball league season, which is scheduled to start in 15 days.

The 22-year-old leaves Police VC after spending two seasons with the club, having joined the side straight from secondary school. He is expected to make his debut for EAUR this weekend during the Kirehe open tournament.

EAUR finished fifth in the 2025/26 national volleyball league season. The club, coached by Vincent Dushimimana, popularly known as Gasongo, parted ways in the offseason with two key players following the campaign—South Sudanese opposite James Nhial Achille and Tanzanian outside hitter Omary Bure Hassan, who both joined Gisagara VC.

In an effort to fill the gaps left by the departures, EAUR recruited young outside hitter Cedrick Kageruka from Kepler VC and Uganda national team opposite hitter Iga Mohamed. The arrival of Ishimwe adds further experience to a squad aiming to challenge for the league title.

Ishimwe brings experience from his time at Police VC, where he was part of a team that reached the league final in two consecutive seasons. Police VC finished runners-up to APR VC before losing the most recent final to Rwanda Energy Group (REG).

Those experiences, particularly his exposure to high-pressure matches and title-deciding moments, could prove valuable to EAUR as the club looks to strengthen its squad and compete for honours in the upcoming season.
