Rwandan striker Arthur Gitego says his decision to join JS Massira on loan was driven by a desire to secure regular playing time after an injury-disrupted spell at FUS Rabat. Gitego joined Massira on a season-long loan following a difficult 2025/26 campaign in which injuries limited his opportunities at the FUS Rabat. “Last season was difficult because I spent a long time injured and missed many matches. By the time I recovered, the league was already nearing its end, making it hard to get enough playing time,” Gitego told Times Sport. The striker hopes the loan spell will provide him with the regular playing time he needs to regain his best form before returning to FUS Rabat at the end of the season. His move has already produced encouraging early signs. Gitego made an immediate impact on his Massira debut, scoring a goal to help his new side secure victory in their opening league match. Gitego has pursued his professional career in Morocco since joining FUS Rabat, one of the country’s established football clubs. However, his progress during the 2025/26 season was interrupted by a lengthy injury layoff that kept him sidelined for an extended period. Before moving to Morocco, Gitego enjoyed a successful spell in Rwanda, where he featured for Heroes FC, Gicumbi FC and Kiyovu Sports. His most recent stint in the Rwanda Premier League came with Marines FC, where he scored 16 goals during an impressive 18-month spell. His performances earned him a move to Kenyan giants AFC Leopards in February 2024, before he later continued his professional career in Morocco with FUS Rabat.
