RSSB Tigers are preparing for another major test at the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in Beijing, with point guard Ntore Habimana saying the 2026 BAL champions are aiming to make history for Africa when they face G League United in Saturday’s semifinals.

The Rwandan side represents Africa at the competition after winning the 2026 BAL title. Now, they are into the semifinals after finishing second in Group A, behind Lithuania’s Rytas Vilnius.

Speaking to Times Sport on Friday, Habimana said a victory against NBA G League United could leave an even bigger mark for Africa.

"As you can see, we are preparing for our match Saturday against G League United,” Habimana said. "We are working on important things in the game.”

On Wednesday this week, the Tigers registered a dramatic 117-115 overtime victory over Shanghai Sharks, which gave them the necessary points to reach the semifinals.

Though the game brought much excitement, Habimana says now the focus has quickly shifted to the next challenge.

"So far, we've made a lot of history, but by winning this next match, we will make history for Africa in general,” he said.

He called on Rwandans and African basketball supporters to follow the team regardless of where they are.

"I hope everyone will watch, being behind us,” he said.

"For those who are not in Beijing, watch on TV, and we'll give the best for you. We won’t let you down,” he added.
