Liberia coach Mohammed Adil Erradi says he has never lost an international match in Kigali, but admitted that his past record will count for little when his side faces Rwanda in AFCON 2027 qualifiers at Amahoro Stadium on Friday, September 25. “I have never lost an international game in Kigali,” Erradi said at the pre-match press conference. “But the reality of the game is on the pitch.” The match kicks off at 6 p.m. local time. He declined to say how that knowledge might shape Liberia’s approach, describing the team’s match plan as confidential. Liberia have been building their squad since June, the coach said. New players have joined the team, while two friendlies against Sierra Leone gave him reason to believe it can compete for a result in Kigali. Forward Kpah Sherman said Liberia were determined to end their long absence from AFCON. He acknowledged the challenge posed by Group K opponents Rwanda, Mali and Cape Verde, but said the players believed they had a chance to qualify. Liberia last appeared at AFCON in 2002. Twenty-four years later, Sherman and his teammates begin another attempt to return to the finals in Kigali, where Erradi says he has never lost an international match.
