Poland’s Marie Okrucrinska won the women’s Junior Individual Time Trial (ITT) at the 2026 UCI Road World Championships in Canada on Tuesday, clocking 15 minutes, 17.57 seconds over the 10.7km course to claim the rainbow jersey. A total of 58 riders started the race, with competitors setting off at 90-second intervals. Rwanda’s Donatha Akimana, the national road race champion and a championship debutant, was the first Rwandan rider off the start ramp. She finished 51st, 3 minutes and 5.57 seconds behind the winner. Okrucrinska, 18, was followed by Belgium’s Yana Decruyenaere, who finished 12.25 seconds behind the champion, while Great Britain’s Aalia Clay took third place. Rwanda’s other representative, Yvonne Masengesho, was competing in the category for the second time. She finished 14 places lower than her position at last year’s World Championships in Kigali, crossing the finish line 2 minutes and 21.06 seconds behind Okrucrinska. Attention now turns to the road races, which get underway on Wednesday. The women’s U23 race will cover 134km, while the men’s Junior road race will tackle the same distance later in the day. Jazilla Mwamikazi and Mariate Byukusenge will return to action after competing in the ITT, representing Rwanda in the women’s U23 road race. Meanwhile, Jonathan Muhawenimana, Pacifique Byusa, Brian Ishimwe and Jackson Nkurikiyinka will compete in the men’s Junior road race.
