Uganda produced a commanding 47-run victory over Kenya on Friday at the ILT20 tournament that is currently unfolding in Kigali. The result was particularly significant because Uganda had lost their first meeting with Kenya earlier in the competition by 8 wickets: Uganda 189/6 (20) Kenya 193/2 (16.4). This time, they responded emphatically, ending Kenya’s unbeaten run and taking the momentum into the title decider. Gerald was the heartbeat of Uganda’s innings. Coming into bat with the side needing to build a big total, he unleashed 8 sixes and 6 fours in a 52-ball assault, striking at 182.69. His innings provided Uganda with the platform to finish close to 200, while Riazat Ali Shah added a brisk 32 from 19 balls, keeping the pressure on Kenya throughout the innings. Kenya's chase never takes off Kenya's response suffered an early blow when Rushab Patel was dismissed for a three-ball duck. Captain Dhiren Gondaria made 11 before falling, while Rakep Patel offered some resistance with 33 from 23 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Gurdeep Singh added 17 from 15 and Sachin Gill 22 from 24, but Kenya struggled to produce the sustained partnerships required to stay with the asking rate. They were eventually dismissed for 150 in the 19th over, 47 runs short of Uganda's target. Uganda's bowlers shared the workload, with their attack repeatedly breaking partnerships and preventing Kenya from launching a late recovery. The victory means Uganda and Kenya will meet again, this time with the trophy at stake. The two teams, level on points and victories, have dominated the competition so far. This Saturday, they will face off in the final to crown the ILT20 Champion 2026.
