APR FC arrived in Lubumbashi on Sunday morning ahead of their crunch CAF Champions League encounter against DR Congo's Aigles du Congo in Lubumbashi later in the day. The Rwandan champions departed Kigali in the wee hours of Sunday aboard a private Ethiopian Airlines charter flight. The team is expected to proceed directly from the airport to the match venue, with no overnight stay planned in DR Congo. Times Sport understands that APR officials had already travelled to Lubumbashi ahead of the team to attend the mandatory pre-match technical meeting on Saturday. The club's chartered aircraft will remain on standby, allowing the team to fly back to Kigali immediately after the final whistle. Before their departure, Rwanda Defence Force Chief of Defence Staff and APR FC Honorary Vice President Gen. Mubarakh Muganga met the players on Saturday at the team's training camp in Shyorongi, Rulindo District. Gen. Muganga urged the squad to fight for a positive result away from home, stressing the importance of securing an advantage in the first leg. “For us, it is like a final. Victory must be secured over there in Lubumbashi,” he told the squad. “It would be best to perform well in the first leg, as that is the key to everything. We want to go into the return leg with a good first-leg result.” APR FC will be looking to return from Lubumbashi with a positive result as they seek to take a significant step towards advancing in Africa's premier club competition.
