SC Kiyovu endured a disappointing start to the 2026/27 BK Pro League season after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Gorilla FC on the opening day at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Saturday. Gorilla FC stunned the Green Baggies with the decisive goal in the 24th minute, when forward Sunday Innemesit found the back of the net. Kiyovu responded with increased pressure after the break and enjoyed more possession, but they struggled to turn their dominance into clear scoring opportunities as Gorilla FC held firm to secure all three points. The defeat leaves Kiyovu with an early setback as they look to recover in the opening weeks of the campaign, while Gorilla FC will take confidence from an impressive start. Amagaju make winning start At Kamena Stadium in Huye, Amagaju FC made a perfect start to the 2026/27 BK Pro League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Sunrise FC. The hosts started brightly and eventually broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when Pacifique Tuyisenge finished clinically to put Amagaju ahead. Sunrise responded with greater attacking intent but found Amagaju well organised defensively. Amagaju then sealed the victory in stoppage time when goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato scored in the fourth minute of added time to secure a 2-0 win. The result gave Amagaju their first three points of the season and temporarily sent them to the top of the table on goal difference. Elsewhere, Etincelles FC and Rutsiro FC played out a goalless draw at Umuganda Stadium in a match that produced few clear-cut scoring opportunities. Action continues on Sunday, with Marines FC hosting AS Kigali at Umuganda Stadium at 3 p.m., while Mukura VS welcome Gasogi United to Kamena Stadium at the same time. The opening round concludes on Monday when Police FC face Gicumbi FC at Kigali Pelé Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 3 p.m.
