Cameroon beat Rwanda 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-19) in the third-place match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Nations Volleyball Championship on Friday at Kasarani Indoor Arena in Kenya to claim the bronze medal. The result means Rwanda finishes fourth, with Cameroon repeating its bronze-medal triumph over Rwanda from the 2023 edition. Opening match, the two teams traded points in the opening stages, but Cameroon gradually gained control, capitalising on Rwanda’s poor receptions to establish an advantage and eventually take the first set 25-17. Head coach Frédéric Guérin brought in opposite attacker Aloysie Tuyishime as a reinforcement, but the change failed to produce the desired impact, as the player contributed only two points. Francoise Yankurije remained Rwanda’s most active attacker, adding six points, but ineffective defensive play allowed Cameroon to regain control and win the set 25-16. In the decisive third set, Yankurije added three more points to finish the match with a team-high 15 points. However, her efforts were not enough to rescue Rwanda as Cameroon maintained its dominance and closed out the match 25-19, securing the bronze medal for the second consecutive edition.
