Rwanda international Rafael York has officially returned to Swedish football after signing for Superettan side IK Brage from South Korean club FC Anyang. The Borlänge-based club confirmed York’s signing on September 1, bringing an end to his brief spell with FC Anyang. “Now the 27-year-old midfielder is ready for IK Brage and playing in the green and white shirt,” the club announced on its official website, before adding: “A warm welcome to IK Brage, York!” York joins Brage after a challenging but eventful period that has seen him play across three continents over the past two years. The midfielder spent the first half of 2026 with South Korean top-flight side FC Anyang, where he registered one assist in six competitive appearances following his move in March. Before moving to Asia, York featured for Swedish side IK Oddevold during the 2025 season, providing one assist in 12 league appearances. His spell at Oddevold came after a brief stint in Egypt with Premier League side ZED FC, where he made just one appearance before returning to Sweden. The move to IK Brage marks the latest chapter in a career that has taken the Gävle-born footballer through several clubs, including Kalmar FF, Gefle IF, AFC Eskilstuna, ZED FC, IK Oddevold and FC Anyang. Brage have also been active in the transfer market, with the club announcing the signing of midfielder Jacob Stensson on the same day as York’s arrival.
