APR HC have signed 19-year-old goalkeeper Musa Ufitinema from Tabagwe Handball Club as the reigning champions continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. Ufitinema completed his move to APR on Wednesday after signing a two-year contract, according to sources familiar with the deal. The agreement reportedly includes a Rwf2 million signing fee and a monthly salary of Rwf400,000. APR had initially offered the goalkeeper a Rwf1 million signing fee and Rwf300,000 monthly salary, but Ufitinema rejected the proposal. The club subsequently improved its offer to secure his services. His addition gives head coach Anaclet Bagirishya another option in goal as the club prepares to defend its domestic title while competing on the continental stage. APR staged one of the most dramatic comebacks in Rwandan handball last season, recovering from a 2-0 deficit against Police HC to win the best-of-five championship series 3-2. APR part ways with three players While strengthening their squad, APR have also parted ways with three players whose contracts have expired. Shaffy Niyonkuru, Mariyamungu Shumbusho and Albert Musoni will leave the club after their contracts were not renewed, having been informed that they are no longer part of the team’s plans. Ufitinema’s signing gives APR an opportunity to develop a promising young goalkeeper, while the departures leave room for further changes as the champions reshape their squad for the new season.
