Rwanda is validating the Phase III EIF Country Programme document, which will run from 2026 to 2031, to boost competitiveness and market access for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Rwf5.1 billion) was prepared under the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) that helps Least Developed Countries use trade as a tool for economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction. For Rwanda, the EIF Country Programme 2026–2031 is the country’s strategic plan for using EIF funding and technical assistance to strengthen trade competitiveness over a five-year period. On August 19, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINICOM) successfully concluded a stakeholder validation workshop for the Country Programme Document for Phase III of the Enhanced Integrated Framework. The ministry said that benefits for SMEs include improved standards, product quality and export readiness; better access to market intelligence and digital tools; improved access to finance and investment opportunities. There is also enhanced trade facilitation and logistics; stronger market linkages and business opportunities; as well as skills development and opportunities in emerging green sectors.
