The case involving Fabrice Shema, president of Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), has been forwarded to Prosecution, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) said. Shema was arrested on August 11 over allegations of issuing a bounced cheque and was detained at the RIB station in Kicukiro. Investigations continue,” RIB spokesperson Thierry Murangira told The New Times on Wednesday. Murangira previously said the case concerns Shema’s personal business and is not related to his position at FERWAFA. ALSO READ: FERWAFA boss Shema arrested Under the law governing negotiable instruments, issuing a bounced cheque can attract a prison sentence of two to five years and a fine of five to 10 times the amount indicated on the cheque upon conviction. The amount involved in the case and details of the complainant have not been made public.
