Police Women’s Volleyball Club are in talks with APR setter Diane Mpuhwezimana over a potential move ahead of the 2026/27 volleyball season. Mpuhwezimana, 24, is under contract with APR until September, but a source close to Police told Times Sport that the club is exploring a move for the talented setter as they seek a player who can compete for a place with first-choice setter Iris Ndagijimana. The club lost to Kepler in the best-of-five playoff semifinals, missing out on a return to the final to defend their league title. Mpuhwezimana has spent the past two seasons with APR after joining the army side from Groupe Scolaire St Aloys Rwamagana in 2023. She enjoyed a major breakthrough in 2025 when she helped APR win the CAVB Zone V Club Championship, beating Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) in the final for the first time. The triumph secured APR WVC a place at the African Women’s Club Championship, while Mpuhwezimana was named both Best Setter and Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. Her potential move to Police WVC would also provide a natural replacement for captain Judith Hakizimana, who is reportedly preparing to step away from professional volleyball and join the club’s technical staff. If the deal goes through, Mpuhwezimana would become one of Police WVC’s key additions as they seek to reclaim the domestic title and strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign.
