Music enthusiasts in Rubavu were treated to an emotional night as Urban Boyz—Safi Madiba, Nizzo, and Humble Jizzo—returned to the stage for their first performance together since the group split eight years ago. The trio headlined the final stop of the MTN Iwacu Muzika Festival, whose two-month nationwide tour concluded at Umuganda Stadium on Saturday. Returning to the same city where they last performed together before their split, Urban Boyz delivered a high-energy set that recorded what organisers described as the largest crowd of the entire festival tour. An estimated 10,000 music lovers attended the free concert, enjoying semi-live performances from Amalon, Bushali, Davis D, Kenny Sol, Marina who were the regular faces across the tour. Rubavu holds special significance for Urban Boyz. It was the last city where the trio performed together before Safi Madiba left the group to pursue a solo career. At the time, his departure followed widely reported tensions and disagreements within the group. During their highly anticipated set, the trio took fans on a nostalgic journey through a catalogue of hits that helped shape Rwanda's contemporary music scene and established Urban Boyz as one of the country's most successful music groups. Fans of all ages sang and danced along to classics including Barahurura, Kubita, Umwanzuro, and Bibaye, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and nostalgia. The energy reached another level when Ama G The Black made a surprise appearance, joining the trio on stage to perform their collaboration, Ibitenge. Every song drew enthusiastic reactions from the crowd, many of whom were visibly moved to see the three artists sharing the stage again. For many fans, the performance rekindled hopes of a permanent reunion. I can only wish them to get back together. From what I am seeing tonight, they should seriously consider a reunion because they deserve our love, said Christa Umurungi, one of the concertgoers. The excitement continued when Marina joined Urban Boyz to perform Too Much, another fan favourite that highlighted the group's long history of collaborations with fellow Rwandan artists. Although Urban Boyz boasts an extensive catalogue of hit songs, the trio performed only a selection of them during a set that lasted less than an hour. They left the stage while many revelers still felt the performance had only just begun. The festival ended at around 11 p.m., but the buzz surrounding Urban Boyz's reunion lingered long after the final performance. Many fans left the venue reluctantly, convinced they had witnessed a memorable comeback by one of Rwanda's most beloved music groups.
