Forward Antonio Atisso Kodjo scored the decisive goal as Rayon Sports edged Al Hilal 1-0 on Saturday at Amahoro Stadium to book their place in the semifinals of the CECAFA Kagame Cup. Kodjo struck in the 16th minute, finishing calmly after finding space in the Al Hilal defense to give the Rwandan side an early lead. Rayon Sports went into the halftime break with a deserved advantage after an impressive opening 45 minutes in which they showed greater attacking intent and controlled key phases of the game. The home side started brightly and were rewarded for their early pressure when Kodjo converted the game's only goal. The strike boosted Rayon Sports' confidence, allowing them to dominate possession for long spells and dictate the tempo. Although Al Hilal enjoyed more possession as the first half progressed but they struggled to create clear-cut chances. Their build-up play lacked the final pass needed to unlock the Rayon Sports defense, forcing them into speculative efforts that rarely troubled the goalkeeper. The second half saw a much improved Al Hilal side dominate possession and create several scoring opportunities. However, Rayon Sports displayed remarkable resilience at the back, successfully resisting sustained pressure to preserve their slender lead. The victory saw Rayon finish top of their group with a perfect nine points from three matches. Al Hilal, who also qualified for the semifinals, finished second with six points. Tusker FC and KVZ SC were eliminated after finishing third and fourth, respectively. Ian Simiyu scored the only goal as Tusker FC secured a 1-0 victory over KVZ SC in the other group match played simultaneously.
