Parts of the City of Kigali, Kirehe and several other areas are expected to experience Rwanda's highest temperatures in August, with daytime highs reaching up to 32°C, while moderate to strong winds are forecast across much of the country, according to Meteo Rwanda. ALSO READ: Summer will be hotter than usual, says Meteo Rwanda In its monthly weather outlook released on July 31, the national weather agency said maximum temperatures during August will range between 21°C and 32°C, slightly above the long-term average for the month, while minimum temperatures are expected to remain within the normal August range of 10°C to 18°C. The highest maximum temperatures, ranging between 31°C and 32°C, are expected in some parts of the City of Kigali, Bugesera, Kayonza, Kirehe, Gisagara and Ngoma districts, as well as the Bugarama Plain. Meanwhile, the lowest daytime temperatures, between 21°C and 23°C, are forecast in some parts of Nyabihu, Musanze, Ngororero, Rubavu and Rutsiro districts. The lowest night-time temperatures, ranging between 10°C and 12°C, are forecast in some parts of Nyabihu, Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, Musanze, Ngororero, Gakenke, Rulindo, Burera, Gicumbi, Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Rutsiro and Rubavu districts. By contrast, the highest minimum temperatures, between 16°C and 18°C, are expected in some parts of the City of Kigali, Nyagatare, Gatsibo, Kayonza and Kirehe districts, as well as the Bugarama Plain. Strong winds expected Meteo Rwanda also forecasts moderate to strong winds across the country during August, with wind speeds expected to range between 4 and 12 metres per second. ALSO READ: Rwanda's first upper-air weather station launched in Huye The strongest winds, reaching 8 to 12 metres per second, are expected in some parts of Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Karongi, Rutsiro, Rubavu, Burera, Kirehe, Nyamagabe, Ngororero, Nyabihu, Gicumbi, Gatsibo, Ngoma, Nyagatare and Kayonza districts. Some parts of the City of Kigali are expected to experience lighter, moderate winds of 4 to 6 metres per second, while the rest of the country is forecast to receive moderate to strong winds. Dry conditions to persist Dry conditions are expected to continue throughout August, with rainfall forecast to remain below the long-term average for the month. According to Meteo Rwanda, the country is expected to receive between 5 and 100 millimetres of rainfall during the month, compared with the August long-term average of 20 to 126 millimetres. The highest rainfall amounts, ranging between 80 and 100 millimetres, are expected in some parts of Musanze, Nyabihu and Rubavu districts. Many other areas are forecast to receive lower rainfall totals, with some parts of the country expected to record between 5 and 20 millimetres during the month. The August outlook comes during Rwanda's dry season, when rainfall typically declines before the onset of the September-to-December rainy season.
