Rayon Sports head coach Francis Haringingo has said that winning the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup would be a welcome bonus for his side, but insisted that the team's primary objective is to prepare for the upcoming 2026/27 season. He made the comments after Rayon Sports secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kenya's Tusker FC in their second Group C match at the tournament currently taking place in Kigali. The victory moved Rayon Sports to six points in its group, level with leaders Al Hilal SC, setting up a decisive clash between the two sides. The coach reiterated that Rayon Sports entered the CECAFA Kagame Cup mainly as part of their pre-season preparations for both domestic and continental competitions. We came here to prepare for the new season, but if we win the trophy, we certainly won't turn it down. Every team wants to finish first and lift silverware, Haringingo said. Rayon Sports must now avoid defeat against Al Hilal SC to keep their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive.
