APR returned to the top of the Rwanda Basketball League standings after edging RSSB Tigers 84-82 in a thrilling encounter at Petit Stade on Friday night. Adonis Filer led APR’s scoring with 13 points, while Axel Mpoyo and Mouhamadou Diagne added 12 points apiece to help the military side secure a hard-fought victory. APR made the stronger start, edging the opening quarter 17-16, but Tigers responded in the second quarter, winning it 21-19 to take a 37-36 lead into halftime. APR came out strongly after the break, winning the third quarter 24-17 to open a six-point advantage. Tigers dominated the final quarter 28-24 but could not overturn the deficit as APR held on to reclaim top spot in the regular-season standings. The result saw Tigers finish the regular season in fourth place, setting up another meeting with APR in the playoff semifinals scheduled for August 5-13.
