The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has set October 8 as the day for the final hearing in the AFCON 2025 dispute between Senegal and Morocco. The hearing will take place behind closed doors in Lausanne, Switzerland, with representatives from both the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) expected to present their arguments. Senegal had originally won the final 1-0 after extra time in a game marred by chaos as the west African team matched off the pitch in protest of the referee's decision to award a penalty kick to Morocco. Later, CAF's Appeal Board overturned the result and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory by forfeit, citing breaches of Articles 82 and 84 of the AFCON regulations by Senegal. Senegal appealed the decision, arguing that the ruling is unfair and should be overturned. CAF President Patrice Motsepe has repeatedly stated that the Confederation will respect the verdict of CAS, which is expected to finally determine the official winner of AFCON 2025.
