RPF-Inkotanyi's Bureau Politique has adopted a series of resolutions aimed at advancing Rwanda's development agenda by strengthening self-reliance, accountable leadership, innovation and youth participation. The resolutions were adopted during a meeting held on Friday, July 17, at the RPF-Inkotanyi headquarters in Rusororo, chaired by President Paul Kagame, the party's chairman. The bureau resolved to strengthen adherence to the party's values and ideology in implementing national development programmes, with emphasis on self-reliance, dignity, sovereignty and building a country in which every Rwandan feels represented and proud. Members also resolved to safeguard achievements in national unity and citizen-centred governance by promoting responsive leadership and improving public service delivery. They pledged to promote home-grown solutions and innovation by leveraging Rwanda's culture, local resources, technology and strategic partnerships to accelerate socio-economic transformation. They also emphasize cultivating strategic foresight, particularly among young people, to equip them with the skills needed to innovate and seize opportunities within Rwanda, the region and beyond. The bureau also committed to expanding youth leadership and responsibility, enabling young people to play a greater role in preserving the RPF-Inkotanyi legacy and strengthening Rwanda's voice internationally. It pledged that youth participation in national development will also be promoted through innovation, knowledge creation, skills development and the preservation of Rwandan cultural values. In addition, members resolved to improve the quality of RPF-Inkotanyi membership, strengthen collaboration and institutionalise continuous self-evaluation based on measurable performance indicators to achieve better development outcomes. ALSO READ: Development gains must be reflected in citizen welfare Addressing the meeting, President Kagame said the gathering offered members an opportunity to assess their performance using concrete indicators, identify practical solutions to national challenges and collectively shape the country's future. He stressed that every leader has a responsibility to deliver results within the institution or community they serve, noting that Rwanda's continued progress depends on accountability and a shared commitment to solving citizens' problems. The President said the RPF-Inkotanyi remains guided by a philosophy of finding practical solutions, embracing continuous learning, strengthening self-confidence and building a sovereign nation founded on integrity and dignity. While commending leaders who have performed well, Kagame called on those at all levels to take greater ownership of their responsibilities, work closely with citizens and ensure efficient and timely public service delivery. Turning to the role of young people, Kagame urged Rwanda's youth to actively shape their future instead of waiting for others to determine it. He said the country has high expectations of its young generation and encouraged them to make sound choices early in life. He urged them to pursue quality education rooted in Rwandan values, acquire knowledge and practical skills, maintain good health and prepare themselves to contribute meaningfully to national development. The President also cautioned young people against behaviours that undermine both personal and national development, including idleness, wastefulness, excessive alcohol consumption and drug abuse. On regional affairs, the President reiterated that regional challenges should not be unfairly attributed to Rwanda. He called for lasting solutions based on mutual respect, dialogue and addressing the root causes of conflicts rather than pursuing narrow interests. He emphasized that sustainable peace and stability in the region require genuine cooperation, trust and respect among neighbouring countries.
