CanalBox, on July 16, announced the launch of its fibre network in Musanze District, becoming its third coverage area in Rwanda as it expands access to internet. The event brought together residents, local officials, and Northern Province Governor Maurice Mugabowagahunde, the guest of honour, among other guests. In his speech, Aimé Abizera, CEO of Canal+ Telecom Rwanda (formerly GVA Rwanda), highlighted the significance of the launch, explaining why Musanze was selected as the company’s third district of operation in Rwanda. He noted that “CanalBox’ vision has never wavered. “We do not build fibre only for the easy-to-access cities, where the existing infrastructure already supports our efforts. We build it for every city, every neighbourhood, and for every Rwandan, no matter the difficulty, no matter the cost, because we believe that potential exists in every corner of this country, not just where it is easiest to find.” He also expressed appreciation to CanalBox customers, partners, and institutions that attended the event, including the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA), Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA), Rwanda Information Society Authority (RISA), Rwanda Internet Community and Technology Alliance (RICTA), Private Sector Federation (PSF), National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Rwanda National Police (RNP), and the Embassy of France in Rwanda. Speaking at the event, the Northern Province Governor, Maurice Mugabowagahunde talked about the impact of CanalBox’s fibre-to-the-home network coming to Musanze, and how it would impact the district.
