The death of middle blocker Patrick Byiringiro has left Rwanda's volleyball fraternity devastated, with clubs, coaches, teammates and sports figures paying tribute to the 24-year-old.
Byiringiro died on Wednesday after a battle with stomach cancer, his family confirmed. He was the younger brother of Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Basketball Club captain Prince Muhizi.
His untimely death came just weeks before he was due to begin a new chapter with APR VC ahead of the 2026/27 season following his transfer from Kepler VC.
