APR FC defender Clement Niyigena has bid an emotional farewell to the club after completing a move to Egyptian Premier League side Smouha SC, ending a successful four-year spell with the army side. Niyigena established himself as one of APR FC's most reliable defenders in recent seasons but opted not to renew his contract, which expired at the end of the 2025/26 campaign. He has signed a two-year deal with Smouha SC that will keep him at the club until June 2028. To the APR FC family, I want to take this moment to thank the management, the fans, my fellow players, the coaches and everyone I had the privilege of working with over the past four years, he wrote. We went through both good times and bad, and every moment was part of this journey. Thank you for your support, your trust and the memories we created together. I will always cherish them. Niyigena leaves APR FC having enjoyed one of the most successful periods of his career. During his time with the club, he won four BK Pro League titles, two Peace Cup trophies and one Super Cup. His journey with APR FC began in 2019 after he was promoted to the senior team before being loaned to Marines FC to gain regular first-team experience. He later joined rivals Rayon Sports in 2020, where he spent two seasons, before returning to his parent club in 2022 and becoming a key figure in APR FC's defence.
