According to Joseph Gatete, the organiser behind the event, the initiative was inspired by a visit to Kavumu during a Peace and Love Proclaimers (PLP) camp in 2025. When we visited the people of Kavumu, they told us it was really difficult to get water from the source to the village. As PLP members, we started Project Hydrate Kavumu, through which we plan to build a water pipeline system for the village, Gatete told The New Times. A percentage of revenue generated through ticket sales, partnerships, and other event activities will be directed towards the project, while the festival also seeks to inspire young people to embrace community-driven initiatives. Cloud9 Fest will contribute to that effort by donating a percentage of ticket sales to the project, he said. Singer Confy, one of the headline acts, said his decision to perform at the festival was motivated more by its social impact than commercial interests. It is rewarding to use music to help people. Fans get to enjoy themselves, and at the same time the event creates a positive impact for those in need, he said. The artiste added that participating in community-focused initiatives allows musicians to use their influence beyond entertainment while encouraging others in the creative industry to do the same. Cloud9 Fest will also mark one of Confy's first major performances after spending time away from the stage due to health challenges. Fans should expect a thrilling performance featuring many of the songs I've released over the years, he said. The festival will also showcase three upcoming artistes, giving them an opportunity to perform before a larger audience alongside established acts. A series of DJ sets will keep revellers entertained throughout the event. Tickets are priced at Rwf10,000 for regular entry, while VIP passes cost Rwf15,000 and Rwf20,000, depending on the package selected.
