Abuja, Nigeria — Maser Foundation recently conducted a humanitarian outreach initiative at the Durumi Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Abuja, where volunteers distributed food supplies and presented a cash donation to the camp as part of the foundation’s growing social impact efforts across Africa. The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Prateek Suri, Chairman of Maser Group, and forms part of the foundation’s broader Pan-African Volunteering Movement, an initiative designed to encourage professionals, students, community leaders, and local volunteers to contribute their time and skills toward supporting underserved communities across the continent. During the outreach, volunteers distributed essential food items to residents and engaged directly with families living in the camp. A cash donation was also presented to the camp administration to support welfare activities and assist with the daily needs of residents. The Durumi IDP Camp is home to families affected by displacement and economic hardship. Community representatives welcomed the support and expressed appreciation for the efforts of volunteers who dedicated their time to assisting residents and understanding their challenges firsthand. According to foundation representatives, the outreach reflects Maser Foundation’s belief that meaningful social impact begins at the community level. Beyond providing immediate assistance, the initiative sought to foster engagement, solidarity, and long-term support for vulnerable populations. Suri has consistently emphasized the importance of giving back to society and creating opportunities for individuals to participate in community development. Speaking about the foundation’s volunteer-led initiatives, he noted that service to others is a value he has learned throughout his entrepreneurial journey and one that remains central to the foundation’s mission. “Giving back to society is extremely important. Success carries a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities around us. Through volunteerism, people can create meaningful impact and help improve lives, one community at a time,” Suri said. The Abuja outreach is one of several initiatives being undertaken through Maser Foundation’s Pan-African Volunteering Movement, which aims to build a network of volunteers committed to supporting causes related to healthcare, education, women’s empowerment, and humanitarian assistance across Africa. Volunteers participating in the program described the experience as both humbling and inspiring. Many residents shared stories of resilience despite difficult circumstances, highlighting the importance of continued support from charitable organizations and community-led initiatives. Foundation representatives believe that while food assistance and financial support help address immediate needs, lasting change requires ongoing collaboration among communities, volunteers, businesses, and public institutions. By encouraging volunteer participation and grassroots engagement, the organization hopes to contribute to sustainable and measurable social impact. As Maser Foundation continues expanding its activities across Africa, initiatives such as the Durumi IDP Camp outreach demonstrate how volunteer-driven efforts can provide practical assistance while strengthening community bonds and promoting a culture of compassion and service. For Suri and the foundation’s volunteers, the program represents more than a charitable activity—it reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that economic progress is accompanied by social responsibility and meaningful contributions to the communities that need support the most.
