South African amapiano star Benzoo will headline the second edition of Ivy Summer Fest when the event returns to Rubavu on July 4 at Nengo Eden Park Hotel. The festival marks Benzoo’s first performance in Rwanda. The Mopepe hitmaker has built a growing following across the region with tracks including “Snokonoko,” “Fast Fast,” “AmaRider” and “Izolo,” and organizers are banking on his debut appearance to give the event a stronger pull this time around. That show was expected to run until midnight at the same venue, but it ended around 10 p.m., before any of the artistes on the lineup could perform. The early closure sparked disappointment among fans who had turned up expecting a full night of entertainment. Organizers say they are aware of that concern and are working to avoid a repeat. ALSO READ: UB40 set to perform in Kigali Speaking to The New Times, they said the main priority for this year’s edition is delivering the full experience promised to attendees. “We as the organizer the biggest concern we have now on this year event is to give attendees the full experience,” they said. “We know we have big debt for them. And we all learn from our mistakes. We are in discussions with national police to ensure that the delivery of Ivy Summer Fest will not be conflicting with security measures.” Tickets are already on sale, with regular entry priced at Rwf12,500. VIP tickets cost Rwf20,000, stage tickets are Rwf30,000 and a table for five is priced at Rwf300,000.
