APR FC have joined Rayon Sports in the Peace Cup final after defeating Etincelles FC 3-1 in the second leg of their semifinal clash at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday, sealing a dominant 6-2 aggregate victory. The result sets up a repeat of last season’s final, where APR beat Rayon Sports 2-0 to lift the trophy. Rayon Sports booked their place in the final on Tuesday after edging out Gorilla FC on the away goals rule following a 1-1 aggregate draw over two legs. APR delivered a commanding display from the outset and opened the scoring in the 26th minute through Gilbert Mugisha. Memel Dao doubled the advantage three minutes before halftime to put the hosts firmly in control. Djibril Ouattara added a third goal shortly after the restart in the 48th minute before Hussein Ciza pulled one back for the visitors later in the second half. The consolation goal, however, had little impact on the outcome as APR cruised into the final. The victory keeps APR’s hopes of retaining the Peace Cup alive ahead of another highly anticipated showdown against Francis Haringingo’s Rayon Sports side, who are chasing a third Peace Cup title.
