Moja Rwanda Limited, which was announced in April as the new operator of the National Lottery, has signed a 10-year operating agreement with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). The agreement signed on Tuesday, May 12, by RDB chief executive Jean Guy Afrika and Moja Group Managing Director Georges Boukazi, allows the company to operate the National Lottery in line with international standards, with revenues expected to support public-interest programmes that benefit communities across the country. ALSO READ: New company named to operate national lottery The National Lottery had no operator since October last year, when the government terminated the licence of Inzozi Lotto over failure to meet contractual and regulatory obligations. Rwanda’s National Lottery was launched in 2021 with the aim of supporting the development of professional sports in the country. Proceeds from the national lottery are channelled to the Ministry of Sports, which invests them under the country’s Sports Development Policy aimed at nurturing talents.
