Police Volleyball Club booked their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Africa Men’s Volleyball Club Championship with a commanding 3-0 (25-20, 25-20, 25-23) victory over Ghana Army VC on Sunday. Head coach Fred Musoni’s side advanced to the knockout stage after maintaining an unbeaten run across four matches. Police were tested early in the opening set by Ghana Army’s attacking threat, led by former Kepler VC player Alhassan Imoro. However, Elphas Makuto and Matheus Bettim combined effectively to turn the tide, guiding Police to a 25-20 win. In the second set, Musoni introduced middle blocker Frank Shyaka, whose impact proved decisive. His contributions, alongside Makuto and Bettim, helped Police secure another 25-20 victory. But after reaching 15-13, their momentum faded as Police regrouped and held firm to close the set 25-23, sealing a straight-sets win. “I’m proud of my teammates. As we move forward, the chemistry we’ve built is unbreakable. However, our focus is now on the next opponent, Kenya Ports Authority, and going back to the drawing board to correct small mistakes,” said Police setter Brian Melly after the match. Elsewhere, Petrojet SC swept Litto Team in straight sets (25-12, 25-17, 26-24) in Group A. In Group B, Kenya’s Equity Bank claimed their third win with a 3-1 victory over Cameroon Sports (25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22). Uganda’s Sport-S bounced back from their loss to Al Ahly with a thrilling five-set win over AS INJS (27-29, 18-25, 25-18, 25-19, 18-16). In Group D, Burundi’s Rukinzo VC continued to struggle, falling in straight sets (20-25, 14-25, 22-25) to General Service Unit. The competition continues later on Sunday, with teams battling for favorable positions ahead of the knockout stages.
