Bank of Kigali (BK) has signed a five-year sponsorship deal worth Rwf 3.25 billion to become the title sponsor of the Rwanda Premier League. The agreement, effective April 24, sees the league rebranded as the “BK Pro League” through the 2030/31 season. The deal was signed at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Friday, in the presence of Rwanda Premier League Board Chairman Yussuf Mudaheranwa and BK CEO Diane Karusisi. Under the agreement, BK becomes the official title sponsor of Rwanda’s top-flight football competition, which previously had no naming rights partner. “We are pleased to partner with the Rwanda Premier League. Football is hugely popular in Rwanda, and at BK we see this as a strong investment opportunity. It also reflects the country’s economic growth, which is evident in the development of infrastructure,” Karusisi said after the official signing. She added that the league already has a solid structure in place, which makes it an ideal partner. “With this foundation, we believe that within five years, Rwandan football can reach an international level. Whether it’s clubs, fans, or other stakeholders, everyone will find value in this partnership with BK.” The sponsorship is expected to contribute to league operations and club financing over the contract period. The 2025/26 season is currently in its final stages, with APR FC and Rayon Sports among the teams competing at the top end of the table. The introduction of a title sponsor marks a shift in the league’s commercial structure, aligning it with other leagues that operate under naming rights agreements. Mudaheranwa explained that the choice of Bank of Kigali was strategic, citing the institution’s alignment with the country’s broader vision and its capacity to help elevate local football. “There were many potential partners, but to reach greater heights, you need the right one. We wanted a partner that understands the national vision, and after our discussions, we found that in BK,” he said. Under the deal, all teams’ jerseys will carry BK Pro League-branded patches. The same brand will be stamped on match balls starting with 2026/27 season. The bank will also have rights to advertise at stadiums throughout the period of the partnership.
