You made it through another week . Best advice, keep away everything work related. If you're looking for something to watch this weekend, 2026 has already served up a strong crop of films worth your time. Here are six of the year's standout releases, from sci-fi blockbusters to gothic romance: Project Hail Mary Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and based on Andy Weir's 2021 novel, the film follows science teacher Ryland Grace, played by Ryan Gosling, who awakens on an interstellar spacecraft with no memory of how he got there. As his memory returns, he must solve the riddle of a mysterious substance causing the sun to die out — but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone. It has grossed over $330 million worldwide since its March release. Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man After his estranged son gets embroiled in a Nazi plot, self-exiled gangster Tommy Shelby must return to Birmingham to save his family and his nation. Set amidst the Birmingham Blitz in November 1940, the film was written by series creator Steven Knight and directed by Tom Harper. Cillian Murphy reprises his role as Tommy Shelby in what critics have called a fitting send-off for the character. The film became Netflix's most-watched title in its debut week. Send Help Directed by Sam Raimi and starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien, the survival horror thriller follows a corporate strategist and her insufferable new boss who become the only survivors of a plane crash and must work together, and against each other, to make it off a deserted island alive. The film has grossed $94 million against a $40 million budget. Wuthering Heights Written and directed by Emerald Fennell and starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, this adaptation of Emily Brontë's 1847 novel was released on Valentine's Day. The film follows Heathcliff and Catherine as desire gives way to obsession and vengeance ripples across generations, with Fennell favouring a visually stylised, carnally charged reimagining over strict literary fidelity. 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple Directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Alex Garland, the post-apocalyptic horror film is the direct sequel to 28 Years Later and the fourth instalment in the 28 Days Later series. It follows Spike as he is adopted into Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal's satanic cult while Dr Kelson makes an unexpected connection with an Alpha Infected called Samson. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the film is a direct sequel to the 2019 horror-comedy. Samara Weaving reprises her role as Grace, who discovers that surviving the Le Domas family was only the beginning and must now protect her estranged sister while being hunted by several elite families in a high-stakes ritual to claim a seat of ultimate power.
