Their persistence paid off just before halftime when Richard Ndayishimiye curled in a superb free kick in the 45th minute to level the score. After the break, Rayon Sports dominated possession and created several clear opportunities, but poor finishing denied them a decisive advantage. Gorilla FC, after their strong opening, spent much of the second half on the defensive but remained resolute to keep the tie level heading into the return leg. In the other semi-final, APR FC secured a commanding 3–1 first-leg victory over Etincelles FC at Umuganda Stadium on Tuesday. Gilbert Mugisha opened the scoring before Djibril Ouattara struck twice in the second half, while Djabilu Ishimwe netted a consolation for Etincelles. Both semi-final ties will be decided in the return legs scheduled for next week, with the winners advancing to the Peace Cup final.
