After days of intensive medical care, musician The Ben is now recovering well and preparing to return home, according to a source. The R&B star, born Benjamin Mugisha, has been receiving treatment at Rwanda Military Hospital since Sunday, April 12, due to a reported throat illness. His hospitalisation came just hours after his visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where he and fellow artiste Bruce Melodie paid tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The two musicians are expected to embark on a joint music tour, performing concerts across different parts of the country. A source close to The Ben told The New Times that he is showing significant signs of recovery and is expected to be discharged on Thursday. “He is feeling much better now,” the source said, adding that “doctors have indicated he could be discharged today.” The Ben’s illness led Bruce Melodie’s management, 1:55 AM, to postpone a press conference, which had been scheduled to provide more details about the upcoming tour. “The press conference has been rescheduled for next week,” the source confirmed.
