American businessman and presidential historian Jared Andrew Cohen, on March 29, visited Ibere rya Bigogwe, a growing tourist location in Nyabihu District, Western Province and was “captivated” by the scenery. Cohen, 44, serves as President of Global Affairs and co-head of the Goldman Sachs Global Institute, which helps governments, companies, and investors understand major global trends and make more informed strategic decisions. On his visit to Bigogwe, he was accompanied by his father, Joseph Cohen. ALSO READ: ‘Ibere rya Bigogwe’: How influencer uses cultural tourism to promote birthplace According to Alexis Ngabo Karegeya, founder of Ibere rya Bigogwe Ltd, a tourism company that is in charge of the place, Cohen spent time taking in the views and soaking up the calm atmosphere. “He seemed genuinely captivated by the hills and the cattle grazing in the valleys,” Karegeya said. “It’s always special to see someone connect so deeply with this place,” he told The New Times. Ibere rya Bigogwe has been steadily gaining popularity, celebrated for its blend of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Karegeya believes visits from global figures like Cohen are helping put the site on the map. “Every visitor leaves with a story, and every story shares the beauty of Rwanda with the world,” he said.
