The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), in partnership with world football governing body (FIFA), will officially launch new facilities developed under the FIFA Forward Programme in Kigali on Monday. The project, first unveiled during the FIFA Congress held in Kigali in March 2023, received funding of $4.5 million (over Rwf 5 billion) from FIFA. The facility features 42 bedrooms, two dining halls, several office spaces, and two large meeting rooms. It will serve the entire Amavubi setup—including men’s, women’s, and youth teams—during training camps, while also accommodating federation guests for meetings and workshops. The programme has also delivered a full-size training pitch and several mini football pitches in Remera. These facilities are already being used by Rwanda’s national teams as they prepare for international competitions. In addition, more mini pitches constructed in Kagarama, Kicukiro District, will be unveiled as part of the initiative. The FIFA Forward Programme is designed to provide comprehensive, tailor-made support for football development across FIFA’s member associations and its six continental confederations, helping to strengthen infrastructure and capacity at all levels of the game.
