Francophonie: Minister Nkulikiyinka lobbies Seychelles to back Mushikiwabo's third term

The Minister of Public Service and Labour, Christine Nkulikiyinka, on Saturday, March 21, met Seychelles Vice-President Sébastien Pillay, to discuss Louise Mushikiwabo’s bid for another term at the helm of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). The two leaders exchanged on Mushikiwabo’s third candidacy ahead of the OIF elections in November and discussed bilateral relations between Rwanda and the island nation. Nkulikiyinka’s visit comes amid a wider diplomatic campaign by the Rwandan government to mobilise support for Mushikiwabo's third bid for to head OIF as Secretary-General. Elections will take place at the Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The former foreign minister is seeking another four-year term. If she wins, she would become the second Secretary-General in the organisation’s history to serve three terms.
