President Paul Kagame on Thursday, March 19, received a delegation of graduate students and fellows from Harvard University and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University to discuss Rwanda's governance and transformation over the past 32 years. During the exchange, the President highlighted key pillars behind the country’s progress, including efficient and accountable governance, strong institution-building, investment in the next generation, and a sustained focus on self-reliance. ALSO READ: Visiting Harvard students briefed on RDF's transformation journey Earlier in the day, the delegation had visited the headquarters of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), where they were received by Defence Spokesperson Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga. The students were briefed on the evolution of the RDF in the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, with emphasis on its transformation into a professional force and its role in promoting peace and stability both domestically and across the African continent. The delegation also held talks with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Usta Kaitesi focusing on Rwanda’s diplomatic transformation and the strategies shaping its global engagement. Over the years, multiple delegations from Harvard have visited Rwanda, engaging with key institutions and visiting important sites to deepen their understanding of the country’s history and development journey.
