New Amavubi head coach Stephen Constantine has said he still has unfinished work to do with Rwanda’s national team which enjoyed a successful progress during his short spell at the helm. The British coach was unveiled on Monday by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) as the new head coach of the senior men’s national team and the Rwanda U-23 side on a two-year renewable contract. Constantine returns to a role he previously held between May 2014 and January 2015 before leaving to take up a coaching job with India. It was under the coach that Rwanda was ranked 64th on FIFA world ranking, the highest position in the country’s history. “I do have unfinished business in Rwanda. We qualified for AFCON but later fell short, and now I am back to finish the job,” Constantine told journalists. “I am glad to be back here. I still believe we can do better, and I believe Rwanda can be even stronger than it was eleven years ago,” he added. Constantine, 63, was selected from a pool of 688 coaches who had applied for the job. He has immediately taken up his duties and will work with the existing squad as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA Series Tournament scheduled to take place later this month in Kigali.
