With a major week ahead for Kigali’s entertainment scene, one event already on many people’s radar is the upcoming performance by American pop star Doja Cat, set for Tuesday. Some may use the weekend to rest before the midweek show, but for those staying out and about, the city still has plenty happening. The lineup includes Kavumbi Dust, Boben, DJ Black, DJ Dwayne, DJ Juicy, Eitball, Iamronny, Lioneyes and Viper, with a guest appearance by Bushali. Admission is free. Umurage n’Umuragwa Another highlight on the Friday calendar is “Umurage n’Umuragwa,” a Kinyarwanda performance that blends music and storytelling. Presented by Indashyikirwa, the show explores themes of heritage, resilience and the choices people make about what they carry forward. Through different chapters of performance, it reflects on how art can open conversations around silence, memory and legacy. TWESE: Pure AfroHouse V The Afrohouse series ‘Twese’ returns this Saturday following its recent one-year anniversary edition, which brought together dancers, DJs and regulars of the city’s house music scene. The edition continues the focus on Afro house and dance floor sounds, with sets from Hola Jefe of Uganda, Rwanda’s own DJ N3XT, Kevin Klein and DJ Moby of Kenya. Organisers say the night will build on the community that has formed around the series, bringing together music lovers for another evening of rhythm and movement. The event takes place Saturday, March 14 at Mundi Center. AFROXCHANGE Another option for Saturday night is AfroXchange, a party built around sounds from across the continent. The event focuses on a mix of Afrobeats, Amapiano and Afro-fusion, highlighting music from both East and West Africa. Organisers say the concept is about bringing different regional sounds to one dance floor and creating a space where audiences can move between styles throughout the night. AfroXchange runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Crystal Lounge. Entry is set at Rwf12,500. Break the Pattern Tech communities in Kigali will mark this year’s International Women’s Day with a gathering focused on women in technology and innovation. Organised by the Women in Tech Club, Google Developer Group Kigali and Women Techmakers Kigali, the event will feature conversations, storytelling and networking under the theme “Break the Pattern,” highlighting women shaping the tech sector. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at the CMU‑Africa Digital Experience Center. Admission is free. Slam Poetry & Live Music For those looking for a more relaxed evening, singer Andersonne will host a night of slam poetry and live music alongside fellow performers. The event brings together spoken word and live sets in an intimate setting, giving local artists a platform to share their work with a small audience. It takes place Sunday, March 15 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Kigali Diplomatic Hotel on 2KG 566 St. Entry is Rwf10,000 at the door.
