At least 27 African volleyball clubs have confirmed their participation in the 47th edition of the CAVB Men’s Club Championship, scheduled to take place in Kigali from April 20 to May 3. The tournament, which will come to East Africa for the first time, will attract clubs from across the continent affiliated with the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB). Rwanda will be represented by APR VC, Kepler VC and Police VC. The competition will also feature defending champions Swehly Volleyball Club of Libya, whose city hosted the previous edition. Other Libyan teams confirmed for the tournament include Ittihad Sport Club, Al Ahly Tripoli and Ittihad Misurata. Cameroon will also field three clubs—Cameroon Sports Club, Litto Team Volleyball and Port Autonome de Douala. Egypt will equally have three representatives namely Petrojet Sporting Club, Al Ahly Sporting Club and Zamalek Sporting Club. Kenya’s representatives are General Service Unit (GSU), Kenya Ports Authority and Equity Bank Volleyball Club, while Uganda will be represented by Sport-S Volleyball Club, Nemo Star Volleyball Club and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA). Other clubs that have confirmed participation include Atletico Clube do Mindelo (Cape Verde), AS INJS (Côte d’Ivoire), Wolaitta Dicha Sports Club and Mugher Cement Factory (Ethiopia). Nigeria Customs Service will represent Nigeria, Moulidia Sportive de Sfax will represent Tunisia, while AS FAG will represent Guinea. From Southern Africa, Black Rhinos Volleyball Club of Zimbabwe has also confirmed participation. Although 27 clubs have been listed by CAVB, the final list of participating teams will be confirmed after the registration deadline on April 6.
