Bank of Kigali has launched a series of activities to celebrate Women’s Month, beginning with a special kick-off event on Monday, March 9, to honour and appreciate its female customers while reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting women’s empowerment. The event took place at the bank’s headquarters, where staff from different departments convened to welcome customers and mark the start of the month-long celebration focused on women’s empowerment and their contributions to communities and the economy. ALSO READ: BK celebrates Women’s Day with emphasis on empowering women in banking During the kick-off, the bank shared a moment of appreciation by presenting gifts to female customers visiting the branch while engaging with them in a warm and celebratory atmosphere. According to Arlette Munezero Wycliff, Head of IT, Infrastructure and Enterprise Architecture at Bank of Kigali, the kick-off event marked the beginning of the bank’s broader effort to appreciate and recognise the role women play as customers, professionals, and contributors to the economy. She explained that while the celebrations started at the bank’s headquarters, similar appreciation activities will be extended to different provinces across the country throughout the month. “We are happy to begin appreciating our female customers as we launch the Women’s Month celebrations. Although we started here at the headquarters, we will continue visiting different provinces and categories of our customers to thank and appreciate them, showing them that we support them and that we are here for them,” she noted. She added that the bank also plans to recognise the women it works with internally and externally, emphasising that the initiative aligns with this year’s Women’s Month theme. Customers visiting Bank of Kigali during the Women’s Month kickoff also shared their excitement and appreciation for the celebration, highlighting how the event made them feel recognized and valued. Belyse Dushime expressed gratitude for the small surprises and the attention given to women during the morning event. “I am grateful for the bank's reception this morning. We really appreciate the service that Bank of Kigali provides for women, and I was pleasantly surprised, I didn’t know this would happen. I am happy for the extra care today” she said. Another customer, Eugenie Uwayezu, said she was caught off guard by the warm wishes and gestures but welcomed the recognition, noting that the bank’s initiative also considered male customers in a thoughtful way. “First of all, I was very surprised that Bank of Kigali wished us a happy International Women’s Day, I wasn’t expecting that. So, I am happy,” she said. “You could see that the bank takes care of its customers, especially women. I appreciate this initiative and hope they keep it up.” Both customers emphasised that gestures like these make women feel valued and acknowledged, reinforcing the positive impact of the bank’s Women’s Month activities.
