Paul Kagame on February 25 met a delegation of 25 global leaders from the Dialog Group to discuss Rwanda’s transformation over the past three decades. According to a statement from the Office of the President, the discussions focused on Rwanda’s journey toward reconciliation and unity, good governance, and innovative leadership, as well as opportunities for collaboration to support the country’s next phase of growth across priority sectors. ALSO READ: Govt, GiveDirectly launch Rwf200bn fund to speed up poverty reduction The delegation is led by Bobby Pittman, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Kupanda Capital and Chairman of the Rwanda Development Bank (BRD). It also includes Nick Allardice, President and Chief Executive Officer of GiveDirectly, and Jocelyn Wyatt, Chief Executive Officer of Alight. Several members of the delegation are already partners of Rwanda. On February 24, GiveDirectly signed a partnership with the Government of Rwanda aimed at mobilising more than $150 million (approximately Rwf219 billion) over five years to reduce poverty by 25 per cent in the five districts with the highest poverty rates. The targeted districts include Nyamagabe, Gisagara, Rusizi and Nyanza. Alight operates in all of Rwanda’s five refugee camps and transit centres, providing humanitarian support primarily to Congolese and Burundian refugees.
