APR FC moved back to the top of the Rwanda Premier League table after a 1-1 draw with Police FC on Friday afternoon at Kigali Pelé Stadium. The match was the opening fixture of matchday 21 of the 2025/26 season, with Police FC hosting APR FC. Burkinabe striker Djibril Ouattara scored for APR FC in the 67th minute, but Police FC equalised in stoppage time through Eric “Zidane” Nsabimana to ensure the game ended 1-1. Police FC were without Dieudonne Ndayishimiye and Isaac Eze due to injury, while Lague Byiringiro and Henry Msanga missed the match after accumulating three yellow cards. APR FC were also missing injured goalkeeper Pierre Ishimwe. Captain Claude Niyomugabo, who has been ill for a few days, started on the bench. It was an entertaining contest, with both teams creating chances in the first half but failing to convert them. Police FC had the better opportunities, including two shots from Alain Bacca Kwitonda that hit the post. Elijah Ani also had an effort cleared by Adolphe Hakizimana. APR striker William Togui Mel also came close but struck the post, as the teams went into the break goalless. After the restart, Gilbert Byiringiro delivered a cross to Ouattara, whose header hit the post. A few minutes later, Police FC’s Ekison Ekorie fired a strong shot, but goalkeeper Hakizimana made a save. With the draw, APR FC move to 39 points at the top of the table. Al Hilal are second with 38 points, while Al Merrikh have 37, with both teams yet to play their matchday 21 fixtures. Police FC remain fourth with 35 points.
