Rayon Sports returned to winning ways with a narrow 1–0 victory over AS Kigali at Kigali Pelé Stadium in the 18th round of the Rwanda Premier League. The win brought an end to the Blues’ five-match winless run across all competitions and marked their first victory of 2026. New signing Didier Mugisha proved decisive, scoring the only goal of the match in the 36th minute after converting a rebound when Emery Bayisenge’s free kick struck the post. Rayon Sports dominated much of the first half, creating several clear chances and repeatedly testing AS Kigali’s defence before finally breaking the deadlock to take a deserved lead into the interval. AS Kigali showed more urgency after the break as they pushed for an equaliser, but Rayon’s well-organised defence held firm to preserve the advantage until the final whistle. The victory lifts Rayon Sports to sixth place on the league table with 29 points, offering a welcome return to form following a difficult spell. AS Kigali, meanwhile, remain 14th with 16 points as their struggles continue.
