The Rwanda Premier League (RPL) has announced changes to the kick-off times of two high-profile fixtures at Kigali Pelé Stadium due to ongoing problems with the venue’s lighting system. The affected matches are Gasogi United vs APR FC, scheduled for February 4, and AS Kigali vs Rayon Sports, set for February 5. Both fixtures will now kick off at 3p.m., instead of the previously planned 6p.m. According to an RPL statement released on Tuesday, February 3, the decision was made after continued delays in resolving the stadium’s floodlight issues. The two games are part of Matchday 12 of the Rwanda Premier League season and were initially scheduled as prime-time evening fixtures under floodlights. Both matches will be played before the start of the league’s second round. The rescheduling follows a series of power disruptions at the stadium. The most recent incident occurred on Sunday, January 11, during a match in which Al-Hilal SC thrashed Amagaju 8–0. On that occasion, the floodlights failed twice—first in the 12th minute and again in the 84th minute—forcing play to be halted for nearly 15 minutes each time before power was restored.
