Veteran point guard Sedar Sagamba is in talks with several top-flight clubs, including Rwanda Energy Group (REG), ahead of the new Rwanda Basketball League season, which tips off on February 8. Times Sport understands that the 36-year-old is currently a free agent and has spent two days training with REG. His former club, Patriots Basketball Club, is also reported to have approached him over a potential return. Sagamba joined Patriots in November 2016 after a four-year spell in Ugandan basketball. Before that, he featured for Sharing Basketball Club, Warriors, and Ndejje University Basketball Club. While at Warriors, he reached the national league semi-finals in 2015 and won the inter-university top scorer award with Saint Lawrence University. During his time at Patriots, Sagamba won three league titles (2018, 2019 and 2020) and helped the club finish as runners-up in both the national league and the 2017 FIBA Africa Zone 5 Championship in Kampala. He was also part of the Patriots squad that reached the semifinals of the inaugural Basketball Africa League (BAL) season in Kigali in 2021. At international level, Sagamba earned one cap with Rwanda, featuring at the 2023 Men’s Afrobasket where the team exited at the group stage.
