Uganda’s incumbent president Yoweri Museveni has been declared the winner of the country’s presidential election. The announcement was made on Saturday by Electoral Commission chairperson Simon Byabakama Mugenyi after the final tally from over 50,000 polling stations was completed. Museveni maintained a strong lead throughout the counting process, which began on Friday. According to the official results, Museveni received 7,946,772 votes, accounting for 71.65 percent of the total. His main rival, opposition figure Robert Kyagulanyi—widely known as Bobi Wine—came second with 2,741,238 votes, or 24.72 percent. Kyagulanyi dismissed the outcome, claiming the vote had been manipulated. Voter participation stood at 52.5 percent, with more than 11.3 million ballots cast from a registered electorate of 21.6 million.
